Professional dating coach, Lisa Copeland, is here today to give us some tips how to avoid scammers. Exploring an over 50 dating site is an emotional experience for most women.
Not only are many of us nervous about being back in the dating scene after decades of stability, but, we also have to put ourselves out there for the world to see. Am I ready to deal with the emotions that will inevitably come as I get back into the dating game?
In addition to sending money directly, the scammer might ask you to cash checks for them or forward them a package. “In addition to losing your money to someone who had no intention of ever visiting you,” the FBI cautions, “you may also have unknowingly taken part in a money laundering scheme by cashing phony checks and sending the money overseas and by shipping stolen merchandise.”In one dating extortion scam recently reported to the FBI, the scammer took intimate conversations and posted them on a website, along with pictures and phone numbers, claiming that the person was a cheater. If some of our members find love along the way, I would be delighted. Like so many things in life, dating is a numbers game.But, as we get a little older it sometimes feels like the odds are tipped against us! In the last few years, companies have started to realize that there is a huge opportunity to help people over 50 to find partners and have opened senior dating sites just for us. After all, we’ve had plenty of practice with our kids and grandkids over the years!During that fun period, I hardly bought groceries because of all the restaurants my dates and I tried.There were some great, thoughtful people I met and others that I wanted to stab in the cheek five minutes in.
